Title: Constrained Multidimensional Scaling
Abstract: In recent years considerable progress has been made in constrained multidimensional scaling. The use of a
priori constraints appears particularly fruitful in econometric applications. This paper surveys various approaches
of formulating and implementing constraints in MDS. The survey includes results reported in recent literature as
well as contributions of the Bonn research project on MDS to the problem of sequential scaling.
