Hans-Martin von Gaudecker

I am a Professor of Applied Microeconomics in the Department of Economics of the University of Bonn. I am a Cluster Faculty Member at ECONtribute, a PI of the Collaborative Research Center TR/224, a Speaker of the Transdisciplinary Research Area ‘Individuals, Institutions and Societies’, an Associated Member at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics, and a research fellow at the Reinhard Selten Institute, CESifo, and Netspar. Here is my CV and Google Scholar profile.

My research interests revolve around modelling the life-cycle behaviour of households and informing public policy aiming to reduce inequality. The methods I use involve heavy use of modern computing infrastructure; maintaining reproducibility of results becomes a challenge in such and other circumstances. Despite some recent efforts in the profession, most research does not live up to reasonable standards. I have created some software that aims to make it easier for researchers to meet the challenge. My teaching is focused on conveying the economics alongside econometric and computational techniques . If you are a student in our BSc or MSc programmes and think about writing your thesis with me, please have a look here.
